This one night class looks at the assassination of President Garfield.  It first looks at US culture in 1881, a brief biography of James Garfield, and of Charles Guiteau, who grew up in Freeport, IL.  It then covers the details leading up to the morning of July 2, 1881 at the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Station in Washington DC.  It covers the capture, trial and execution of Guiteau.  It covers the poor medical treatment received by Garfield and his death on September 19, 1881.  The current status of the railroad station and the gravesite of Garfield are also explored.
